About our Digital Collections

The University of Scranton Weinberg Memorial Library began its digital collections program in 2005 with the digitization of back issues of the Aquinas, the University’s student newspaper. Digital collections are administered by the Library’s Digital Services Department, created in 2008.

The Weinberg Memorial Library digitizes small format items such as photographs, documents, slides, and negatives in-house, while large format items and books are outsourced to professional digitization vendors. Most of the Library’s digital collections are published to the web using CONTENTdm management software and are described using a customized version of the Dublin Core metadata element set.

The Weinberg Memorial Library is continually digitizing materials and will be adding new digital collections in the near future. Projects currently in progress include the Electronic Masters and Honors Theses Collection, the University of Scranton Basketball Collection, and the Digital University Archives.

For information about requesting copies of digital images, please view our Digital Reproduction Policy. Other questions about the Library’s digital collections and digitization services may be addressed to the Digital Services department at digitalcollections@scranton.edu.
