WELCOME TO SAINT THOMAS HALL!
Beautiful; functional in every detail - it is, at once, an educator's
dream and a monument to the people of this area
who helped build it for the higher education of our young
people. Dramatic proof that the University is growing, St.
Thomas Hall is also a pledge that we will continue to serve
both the community and the nation. With such facilities
that promote and encourage learning, the University cannot
but feel an increased enthusiasm for study and a deeper
dedication to the world of mind and heart.
WELCOME TO DENIS EDWARD HALL. HAFEY
HALL. LYNETT HALL AND HANNAN HALL!
These complete the second quadrangle of modern residences
that have brought four hundred and sixteen students to
Scranton. Through them, the influence of the University and
the area goes out to towns and cities along the east coast.
Our students from afar bring with them a rich variety of
backgrounds and take away not only an education but a pro-
. found gratitude for the warm welcome given by our people.
WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF SCRANTONl
Seventy-five years of age but centuries old in wisdom, the
University faces the future with youthful anticipation. Both
past and pl~esent are a promise that the spirit of cooperation
which has built our buildings will have its reward in students
and graduates grateful to those who have gone before and
eager to serve those who come after.
To you who have worked with us, to all who have helped,
our profound thanks - God bless you.

.~ Lord Jesus Christ ... thou who
art the corner-stone hewn from
the mountain not by the hand of
man; thou Who art a foundation
which cannot be moved - do
thou make firm this stone which
is laid in thy name. And thou, the

Father created all things, be
likeWise, we pray, the beginning,
and the increase and the conSUInmation

begun for thy fame and glory ...
o Holy Lord, almighty Father,
through the intercession of St.
Ignatius and St. Aloysius, bless
this building, bless our entering,
bless the threshold over which
We pass, as thou didst vouchsafe
to bless the home of thy Patriarchs
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
... Bless. 0 Lord, this edifice, and
let there be here health and holiness,
virtue and glory, humility,
gOOdness, mildness, gentleness,
docility and fidelity to the law,
Obedience and thanksgiving to
God *e Father, Son, and Holy
SPirit. May this blessing be upon
this place,. and may the sevenfold
