done gradually.

The Student Activities Council
has begun ,investigating the
possibility of a co-educational
housing program at Jefferson
Hall and has been researching
other co-ed colleges and universities.
The SAC plans to investigate
their proposed idea of converting
the third floor of the hall into an
all-female residence by CODtacting
other Catholic and Jesuitbased
colleges to gain information
pertaining to the program.
,This ,policy, however, does, not
have the go-ahead approval until
it is reviewed and passed by the
University's Boardof Trustees.

One hundred eighty-three
University students signed up for
volunteer help to a variety of
local service agencies at the
,Campus Ministries-sponsored
third annual Volunteer Fair.
While the feeling at Campus
Ministries is that the fair was a
success, the need for more
volunteers continues. For example,
Big Brothers/Big Sisters is
anxious to match student
volunteers with single-parent
children. This national organization
offers companionship and
friendship to children lacking
these vital relationships.
Other agencies still seeking
volunteers are TELESPOND, a
service to the elderly by which a
volunteer takes time to call upon
those lonely or in some particular
need. Meals-on-Wbeels needs
help to deliver food to downtown
residents. Many of the local
hospitals and child care centers
need help in every area of service.
There are many avenues
through which students can
become involved with the commUnity.
Available in the Campus
'Ministries office is a booklet,
uHelping Others, A Guide to
Volunteer Programs in the
SCranton Area." More than 50
local agencies arP. listed which
desperately need the service and
time of student workers. interested
students can find further
information concerning
volunteer opportunities by contacting
Tom Malloy at Campus
Ministries.
