"Green's study recommends additional
parking located on the exterior of the
campus," he said.
Currently, disrepaired houses stand on
each of the new lots, but the University
plans to. demolish them, Zampano said.
A demolition contract has been
awarded to Stocki Demolition from the
University. The company plans to take
preliminary steps this week in order to
raze the building at 324 within two
weeks, said Zampano. This, he added, is
the property that will be used as green
spa~e.
The 304 site is presently being used as
the Wayne Manor Haunted House.
Although the house is in disrepair,
Flanagan said precautions are being
taken to insure the safety of those
touring the house over the weekend.
The house will be demolished by midDecember
if the weath.er is satisfactory,
_and it will become a parking lot for the
Gallery, he said.

The two houses purchased by the
University last week will be demolished
and the properties used for parking and
" as -a green space, said John S. Flanagan,
vice president of Administrative
Services.
Flanagan stated that the purchases,
located at 324 and 304 Madison Ave.,
are compatible with the long-range plans
of the University.
"These properties are ideally located
within the University campus area,"
Flanagan said. "They are perfect for our
future development."
The University officially acquired the
properties from Joseph and Beverly
,Goodman on Oct. 14, although the deal
had- been in progress for several weeks.
Gary Zampano, coordinator of
Facilities Planning, said the combined
cost of the 'properties totaled $60,000.
One reason the University purchased
the properties was because Allan Green's
planriing survey indicated such purchases

activities as conferences, dances
and special events, he 'added.
Panuska said that buying the
building could eliminate some of the
University's space problems.
,"I hope this purchase works out
because it will help us provide
needed academic space in St.
Thom~s Hall by moving some
offices out," he said. "It will also
provide a much-needed alternative
for the smaller social and cultural
affairs now held in the overschedUled

auditoriums." Fifty parking
spaces would be freed for student
parking behind the church, Panuska
said.-
