Mr. John Drew
Born Philadelphia, Pa., Nov. 13, 1853
'Almost alone, certainly most prominently, stands out the name of John Drew among the male actors who have come under Mr. Daly's influence. From the fact that many other young men have been Mr. Daly's pupils and yet have failed to achieve prominence, it is fair to infer that some exceptional abilities belong to Mr. Drew. He has on his side whatever of value may lie in a hereditary instinct and early association. In dramatic history there are so many instances of the effect of these causes in producing results, that we may safely consider them at least not a handicap. Ahead of him are three generations of stage people. His mother's many years management of the Arch Street Theatre in Philadelphia brought him much into contact with the best people in the profession.
In conclusion, Mr. Drew may be set down as being the most polished juvenile actor on our stage to-day.'
