Jas Archbald Esq
Carbondale Pa Dear Sir
We shall soon commence the railroad from here to the Water Gap. The work will be let on the 13th June. We must necessarily occupy & pass over lands of the Penna Coal Co. I regret that our crossing shd occur at the foot of one of the planes. Still as we are about 10 feet above the tracks of the Penna Co Road, I think it can be arranged as not to interfere. The line comes very near the smith shop which I presume you have noticed & if that shop cd be moved, it might be better for all. We should be pleased to have permission to enter upon your Co lands at once for the purpose of clearing &c.
Will you have the goodness to bring this matter before your board at the earliest moment & inform me of their decision?
I sincerely regret your recent injury & hope you will not long suffer from it. I learned today that you were walking about your room & doing as well as cd be expected.
Very resp your friend
