The University Archives, by authority of the university administration, is responsible for collecting and preserving records of legal, administrative, and fiscal value to protect the institution as a legal entity and promote its efficient management. Selection and acquisition of documents for preservation is governed by the University's Records Management and Retention Policy (PDF) and the Records Retention Schedule (PDF).
The physical records of the University are open, with certain restrictions, to members of the University community and to outside researchers. Certain record series are closed for extended periods of time to protect individual privacy or to protect the legal rights of the institution and its departments. Closed records can only be seen by authorized parties.
Selected materials from the physical records have been digitized and are publicly available online as part of the University Archives collections.
